The new Residents cut the ribbon on a brand new affordable housing development for seniors.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear joined local leaders for the grand opening of Gateway on Broadway on 12/10/2025.
The renovated warehouse in Louisville’s West End is now home to 116 affordable senior apartments and the corporate offices of The Housing Partnership, Inc.
The space will also be home to several shops opening in 2026 including a hair salon, cafe, a hearing testing center and more.
"This work is long overdue, vacant abandoned for 50 years. The vacant housing blight that west Louisville has faced over 50 years, so we have to work better, smarter to fix these long problems," Andrew Hawes, President and CEO of HPI, said.
The property was originally St. Augustine’s Catholic Church and School built in 1892 and redeveloped into the National Candy Company in 1922.
Since 1922, the building has seen various industrial uses, but has been vacant since 1981.
Thank you to everyone that came out to celebrate the Gateway on Broadway ribbon cutting! Special thanks to Governor Andy Beshear and Mayor Craig Greenberg for being a part of this event. It was a truly joyous day!
